Message to Timbers-Thorns North FC Families

Message to the Timbers-Thorn North FC Families:

With Governor Little beginning to lift aspects of the stay-at-home order, the club is looking to resume training, (likely in small groups), soon. Whether training resumes in Phase 1 or Phase 2 of Gov. Little's reopening plan will be determined by Idaho Youth Soccer Association in consultation with the Governor's office. We will provide updates as we receive the information and obviously, the decision to send players or not to practice when things pick up again is up to individual families.

We are targeting the month of June to get back to competition. Our club, along with the Spokane Sounders, Sandpoint Strikers, FC Spokane, IEYSA, and WE are working in conjunction to provide local playing opportunities for the soccer community. Obviously, this is a tentative plan. Ultimately, we will follow the advice from local, state, and federal authorities.

As you know, the adjusted date for our Hot Shot Tournament was to be May 29-31. However, the uncertainty of group gathering restrictions, potential travel restrictions for out of state guests, and the sheer volume of unknowns on several other issues, have proven to be too much of a risk to carry forward and we have decided to cancel Hot Shot for 2020.

The decision to cancel Hot Shot was not taken lightly. The tournament has been held annually since 1991 and has grown into an event that boasts our local community while providing a fun, competitive soccer environment for teams from all over the Inland NW, Canada, and beyond. In addition, it is a major revenue source for the club and that loss is something the club will feel going forward.

With the loss of our tournament, the raffle becomes even more important. The club has decided to extend the raffle deadline to May 15, with the actual raffle being held on May 28. If every player in the club was able to sell an additional ten tickets, the club could come close to making up the difference.

Again, the club understands the hardships many families and small businesses are enduring. We are not mandating everyone sell the additional tickets, we are simply asking families to do what they can to support the club, just as all of us in our community have supported each other through this pandemic. Please reach out to your raffle rep if you would like additional tickets.

Thank you for your support. We are excited to be back on the fields soon. Please look for an update on training, the month of June, and more soon.
